For nineteen years, the City of Offenbach has been awarding a prize for cultural achievements to individuals and associations. The certificate itself, however, could have embodied that spirit in a visually more pleasing manner. Starting with this twentieth award, a different local studio would be approached to provide the design.
Soziale Plastik e.V., the recipient of that year’s prize, is known for holding cultural events and concerts out of an old railway car which stands stationary on abandoned tracks next to the river Main. Though the venue itself stands still, the certificate’s design communicates the association’s lively work through rotating, moving type. It looks nothing like a typical certificate, too, increasing its chances of proudly hanging on the inner walls of the wagon.
